Risk assessments are reviewed annually or whenever activities, equipment or processes change.

Repair Acceptance Guidelines

Kidbrooke Repair Café may refuse repairs where:

• The item presents an unacceptable safety risk.
• The repair requires specialist equipment unavailable at the session.
• The volunteer does not have sufficient knowledge or experience.

Safety takes priority over completing a repair.

Volunteer Safety Principles

Volunteers should:

• Never attempt repairs they are not comfortable performing.
• Ask another volunteer for support when needed.
• Stop work if they identify a safety concern.
• Explain risks clearly to visitors.
• Keep the workspace tidy.

Incident Reporting

Any accident, injury, near miss or significant safety concern should be reported to the coordinator.

A report should include:

• Date and time
• Location
• People involved
• Description of what happened
• Actions taken

Review

This risk assessment will be reviewed annually, when new equipment is introduced, when new activities are started, or after any significant incident.
